INTRODUCING, RACHEL KIM.
Hey, my name is Rachel Kim! If there’s any way to describe me, it’s a little bit of a lot of things; Army veteran, nine-to-fiver in tech, dog mom, mountain biker, snowboarder, skier, retired D1 competitive swimmer... But of all the things (un)listed above, I’ve been a photographer the longest – taking and sharing photos has always been my way of sharing my perspective and experience.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized more and more how important family is—and more recently, my relationship with my two younger brothers, Nick and Alex. Being able to share a hobby with them that we’re all equally obsessed with (hint: it’s skiing) has brought us closer and given us a common interest to get stoked about when the temperatures drop. Big Sky, Montana, was on the top of our bucket lists and we soon took off to what will be remembered as our first “sibling” trip—something we see becoming an annual tradition.
Our flight from Newark to Montana was early, so we grabbed a window seat to catch the sunrise. The contrast in views between the skyscrapers of New York City and the mountains of Montana was wild to witness.
Bozeman has a vibrant mix of outdoorsy energy and small-town charm that’s pretty hard to beat. You can feel that the community is proud of the town, and it's easy to see why with all the downtown spots and pending adventures right outside.
When it comes to the views, the snow-capped mountains against the blue horizon made it feel so epic – it made so much sense as to why the resort was called Big Sky after having seen it for myself. There was so much to explore on every run.
WHAT TO BRING.
Topo Designs and their commitment to form and function made the trip smoother and more enjoyable. Whether it was effortlessly navigating through airports with the Global Travel Bag Roller, staying organized in Bozeman with the Rover Packs and Accessory Bags, or tackling Big Sky in the Global Puffer Hoodie, their gear never let us down.
FULL COLLECTIONWHERE TO NEXT?
Looking back, I've truly cherished the family time with my brothers. Regarding my photography journey, I'm still refining the balance between immersion and capturing moments — and this trip has been instrumental in deepening that understanding. From the flight views to the scenic drives, every moment has left its mark and a trip was made to inspire future travel. The better question is, though; Where to next?
THE TEAM.
